Stig
Edgren is one of the foremost producers and designers of world-class
special events and concert attractions - staging events for
Pope John Paul II, President Clinton, President Reagan and
the XXIII Olympic Closing Ceremonies. He has created concert
acts for Gloria Estefan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Natalie Cole
and designed arena shows for superstars ranging from Barry
Manilow to Cher.
Staging
productions on a universal scale has always been his trademark
- having produced 3 Papal events in the United States, including
The Mass At Central Park for over 250,000 people, and the
two largest events of the 1987 Visit at The Los Angeles Coliseum
and Dodger Stadium. The L.A. Coliseum has also been the site
of many other events Edgren brought his expertise to including
The XXIII Summer Olympic Games and Nelson Mandela’s ‘Rallye
For Freedom’.
Working
on a wide scope of projects has made him equally at home
on the political front as well. Edgren has produced three
major Presidential events. In 1993, he produced President
Clinton’s Arkansas Inaugural Ball and during the `92
campaign was Executive Producer for one of the largest events
for the Clinton / Gore ticket with a rally at Pacific Amphitheater
for over 20,000 people. In 1984, he produced President Reagan’s
Tribute to the U.S. Olympic Medalists in Los Angeles.
Edgren’s
career began with lighting and set design, including a tenure
with the world's top design firm - Imero Fiorentino Associates,
and evolved into one of the most distinguished careers providing
creative direction and design for top acts including; Donna
Summer, Anita Baker, Chicago, Barbara Mandrell and Dionne
Warwick. His productions have always been known for their
creativity and visual excitement and a reputation renowned
for first-class musical events.
Edgren
is also responsible for developing a new concert
form, in collaboration with Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises,
by presenting a live interactive show using state-of-the-art
video projection techniques combined with a live performance
of Elvis’ original band members and singers. 'ELVIS
- IN CONCERT' is an amazing concert experience which has
played to over one-million people,
received worldwide media coverage and sold out shows around
the world including New York’s famed Radio City Music
Hall.
His
work with Natalie Cole launched the first live ‘video
duet’ of ‘Unforgettable’, pairing Natalie
on stage for the first time with her famous father Nat King
Cole. In a similar effort for the 20th Anniversary of Elvis
Presley’s death, Edgren and award-winning music producer
David Foster put another ‘unforgettable’ video
together with Elvis singing ‘Don’t Cry Daddy’ with
his daughter Lisa-Marie Presley.
Over
the past fifteen years, he has produced the annual concert
tour of ‘THE COLORS OF CHRISTMAS’ which has grown
into one of the country’s most popular holiday attractions.
Working with artists such as Roberta Flack, Al Jarreau, Peabo
Bryson, Aaron Neville, Sheena Easton, James Ingram and Michael
McDonald - this show brings together four outstanding contemporary
singers to perform Christmas classics and their Greatest
Hits with a full orchestra and choir.
Edgren’s
current project list includes the 2009 opening
of Los Angeles' newest musical theatre - THE SOUNDSTAGE
THEATRE (www.soundstagetheatre.com) - and is now producing
the first VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS POPE BENEDICT XVI to
New York at Yankee Stadium in April 2008.
